Weekly Blog #31: Iced Out Life

Image
Hello ‘Ilima  Welcome back! This week has been pretty long so let’s start from the top. Tuesday had Recognition Night which definitely felt like the quickest one. Pretty bad sign for our school but at least a lot of people still had fun. I was (and am) still coughing a lot which made screaming not the best idea but I still did it. Earlier that day, I actually gotta watch a baseball game. Campbell has a baseball field right next to our field and I got to watch them play. I didn’t entirely understand the game, but I still had a whole lot of fun watching. But the best part of this week came on Friday. Friday was the 7th Grade Class Day and I was super excited. We were headed to Ice Palace and I had never been so I was pretty hyped about it. The bus ride to Ice Palace was pretty cool. The bus driver was pretty funny and she even jokingly offered to braid my hair. I closed my eyes for a bit and before I knew it, we were at Ice Palace. The place was much bigger than I expected it to be, ...

Weekly Blog #30: Straight Outta Sicktown

Hello ‘Ilima! This week was very different from all the other weeks because of one factor. I was sick. Iron Man is down for the count. It started on Monday when my head was hurting, but I just rested and it better for Tuesday where the story really starts. My head was hurting more and eyes became wet and sore. ELA, my first period for that day, was a struggle and I felt like I was dying. I was barely standing straight during recess which caused my friends to look at me strange. Then we head to AVID. During the mediation period, I put my head down and my shoulders started heating up. Everything was so hot but it actually felt soothing in a way. When I got up, my neck and shoulders were still hot but my headache was gone. The people on my table could tell I wasn’t feeling good and they told the teacher for me. She checked my forehead and said it was warm, so I got sent to the health room. There, the nurse checked my temperature and I was at 103 degrees. This was enough to get me sent int...

Weekly Blog #29: TRIPLE CROWN!!!

HELLO 'ILIMA! OR SHOULD I SAY, THE BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK DEFENDING CHAMPIONS OF THE LEEWARD MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE COMPETITIONS! FRIDAY WAS AN ABSOLUTE BLAST AND I NEED TO GO OVER IT. Okay, the beginning of Friday was very quick. I was on TV and it went pretty good. I headed to my first period which was pretty crazy as the class was doing a whole karaoke session. At 8:55, I left my second period to head to A101 to get ready for the bus. There was a lot of people in the room and I was just patiently waiting for the bus to arrive. After over 10 minutes, the bus arrived and we made a slow walk to the bus. The trip to the Blaisdell was pretty fun as I was playing goofy music for my friends. The trip also felt long which was nice. Arriving to the Blaisdell gave me flashbacks to my 6th grade Enrichment team as we had gone to the Blaisdell for our event. For a lot of the early part of the day, leading up to the dance, I was pretty anxious. I was scared of dropping the prop or acciden...

Weekly Blog #28: Orientation of the Youth

Hello 'Ilima WHAT IS UP 'ILIMA! Last week was a very long week, so let's jump into it. The monster-sized elephant in this room is 6th Grade Orientation. All of the hard work from this past year has finally paid off, and it was an experience. The first school to come was Holomua, which was my former school. I was super excited and the show started off good. When it was time for the school tour, I was ready and prepared. This tour went really good as I had all of my points down and the Holomua kids were really cooperative. It had just rained a couple of minutes ago, but that didn't affect us and we finished the tour smoothly. I had a joke that I would tell the groups (except the last one because I forgot). The joke was "the police might come by often, but it isn't for you, it's for me. Any questions?" The kids would be confused and laugh, and it was just a good time overall. The dance for Holomua turned out really good. I forgot some cues which made me ...

Weekly Blog #27: Calm Before the Storm

Hello ‘Ilima  GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING ‘ILIMA! Welcome back to school! It was a nice break, and we had a good opening week as it only had 3 days due to 2 holidays. I don’t understand why Monday couldn’t be a day off, because it would make the schedule less confusing, but whatever. This week, even though short, was pretty busy. On Wednesday, we had a dress rehearsal for the orientation. It was pretty cool to do my 2nd ever dress rehearsal. My first one was for my 6th grade performance of the Lion King which was really fun. All of this practice that has went into the orientation is getting me really anxious. Even with all of these nerves, I am really excited to do the orientation and do my best performance. Thursday also had a Family Nite which was pretty fun. It was the last and final Family Nite and it had the least amount of people come. The booth I was working at was a paper airplane making booth that had to do with the degrees and angles of the fold lines. I made my very first paper...
