Weekly Blog 1-3 (38): Snapshot of Time

Image
Hello 'Ilima This week of school was a slightly busy week of school with picture taking going on through Monday to Thursday. The three (kind of 2) jobs during picture taking is simple. 1. Greeter. This person stays outside and when a class comes, they greet them and ask them to get into alphabetical order. Once they are in order, you simply bring them inside. The other job(s) is the Stage People. Some people wait on the left side of the stage and they make sure that everyone is in dress code. The person on the right side simply directs the people to where they sit. I worked all 3 jobs so I can rank them in how much I liked them. Or I could if I didn’t have many different opinions on them. The Greeter is probably my least favorite cause you have to A. Interact with people. and B. It’s pretty boring. The only upside is that you are basically on break once everyone is inside. Then there is left side stage. This is probably the real worse job and not the Greeter because there is aroun...

Bio Cube Blog

Hello ‘Ilima Over the course of the summer, Leadership had an assignment called the Bio-Cube. The Bio-Cube is a cube of information, separated by 6 different sides. These 6 sides are Name, Background, Personality, Significance, Obstacle, and Quote. This project started during Bridge where we started by planning out our Bio-Cube. We were given a planning sheet and after we filled it out, we would practice saying the different sides in a group. My Planning Sheet  After the planning, we had to design the cube on Canva. I had absolutely zero idea on what I was gonna do for my design so I started by brainstorming. I was thinking of adding silhouettes of people who relate to the sides, but after trying it out, I didn’t like how it looked. I then tried a simple color theme but that was just boring. Eventually, I came up with the idea of the cube being a Macintosh computer with different computer wall papers for each side The idea, to me, was very unique and I liked how it looked. I ...

Weekly Blog 1-2 (37): Short and Sweet 2: Shorter and Sweeter

Hello 'Ilima This week of school was 4 days long and consisted of mini projects and introductions. Beginning with IReady Diagnostics, I finished both of them this week. I got a 700 in ELA and a 595 in Math which is equivalent to 9th grade level for both. The ELA test was pretty simple and that Math test was very difficult as always. Going on a small rant here, but the Math test is so dumb. It always gives questions on topics I've never learned so there's no way for me to get the question correct. Next thing to cover is NHD. We started learning about the NHD project for this year on Thursday and I'm mixed on it. I like doing research and learning new topics, but the project always takes such a long time and there is so many different requirements. This year's topic is Rights and Responsibilities and it is purposefully broad so that we can be creative. Before I reveal my topic, you have to promise that you won't copy. Okay? Alright, so I'm going to be doing t...

Weekly Blog 1-1 (36): First Week Back

Image
Hello ‘Ilima Welcome Back to School! This first week of school was pretty simple as it was mainly just the introduction. Tuesday was the first day for 7th graders, but the 8th grade Leadership still had to come. I arrived and worked the lanyards with Alex. The job was pretty boring but I did a pretty job. For the rest of that day until Lunch, we just waited inside. For that first day, we had to work Cafe Monitors and I got to be trash, the best job. Overall, the 7th grader’s first day was pretty chill. But then it was the actual first day. For the first half of the day, it was diagnostic testing in your homerooms. Leadership, however, didn’t do testing and we just kept on doing schedule pick up work. Then for the last half of school, we went to each of the classes for 11 minutes. I got to see the teachers and get a feel for the classrooms (except Mr. Damo’s) which was helpful for me to get settled in. The rest of the week went pretty well as it was just longer introductions. Some ...

End of the Summer Blog 2

Step 1 of moving into a house is cleaning. I went through all of the rooms with my towel and spray bottle and started to clean. Along the way, I found a lot of cool relics like shell necklaces or decks of cards. But there was one thing that stood out the most. When I went to the basement to clean, I noticed a secret room that you could only see the entrance to at a specific angle. I walked into the room and all that was there was a dusty bookshelf with a singular book on it. It had a dark red, almost maroon, hard cover with gold engraved numbers saying "2425". Curiosity took over and I opened it up. I sat down and started reading Chapter 1, Summer. This summer started off totally different from last summer. I began this summer exhausted, awaiting the first day of Bridge. I had one main plan for Bridge, make a good first impression. I was going to be a 8th grader and I was going to have to take care of 7th graders so I wanted them to have a positive opinion of me. To do this...
