Weekly Blog 3-9 (62): Picture This
Hello 'Ilima
Recovering from Spirit Week, this week was not at all a break in the action. There were a bunch of things that went on during this week, so let’s start from what happened first. This was the week of Graduation Picture Taking which had us Leadership students dress up the 8th graders in gowns. I remember being very awkward about needing to dress people up last year, but that feeling was basically gone this year and it wasn’t really bad. We had to work two days, one during an even period and one during our leadership period. Both days went very well, with the only problems being getting mixed up with the different gowns occasionally. But a lot of funny things happened during the picture taking, like Sienna crushing Mikayla or Mikayla farting. The next thing I will talk about is Orientation practice. For the upcoming orientation for the 6th graders, Leadership has been practicing non stop for it. The theme for the orientation is Fashion Show and I have been learning how to walk properly. To walk like a model, you need to have your posture straight, head forward, hips still, and movement needs to be natural. I think that I have the walk down, but it will just take more practice. Next up is the Track and Field ISA. For a small spoiler, this was by far the best ISA so far. With this being the last ISA event of the year, two seven graders for brought with us to learn what they would be doing next year. So with this additional help, there was a little bit taken off my shoulders. Then, the weather was finally on our side for one the ISA events. It wasn’t super hot or soaking wet. It did rain prior, but it wasn’t so terribly wet that I felt miserable. And when it came to actually taking pictures, it was much easier because I knew where the action was happening. Unlike in Volleyball or Baseball where a big moment can happen anywhere, everyone is doing the same thing in the same place in Track which makes taking photos much more easier. I was also a lot more prepared for this ISA, bringing food so that I wouldn’t be hungry. Best of all, I got to play Among Us with the boys from our Track team and I actually won a round as imposter. So even though I have mostly hated going to these ISAs, I’m glad I can end going to ISAs on a strong note. These were all the major beats, and I will explain all the smaller details in the next paragraph.
The first highlight from this week would be my Retro Bowl league. I didn’t mention this last week, but I had lost my first round match up in the playoffs. But that didn’t stop me from having a great week this week. I ended up getting 5 Pro Bowl players and 2 All Pros for my team and I also got the OPOTY with my RB, Bennie Luvu, becoming a back to back OPOTY winner. Then, we had our draft this week and I had an outstanding draft. I had traded up for the 7th overall pick and I was able to get the number 2 WR prospect which was amazing. Then, I was able to revamp my trenches my getting a defensive interior in the second, an offensive linemen also in the second, and an EDGE in the third. Then I signed another offensive linemen and a backup QB from Undrafted Free Agency. It has been a really good off season and I’ve also been improving my own skills. So I’m looking forward to this next season and I think I will do pretty good. Next highlight would be getting the mongoose out of A101. So last week, I mentioned that there was a rat in A101. Well apparently it was a mongoose the whole time and that’s why none of the traps were working. But Mr. Ing was able to chase it out of the room and we are free from the mongoose. The next highlight would be the Muppets Movie. The Muppets Movie I’m taking about is the cinematic masterpiece created in 2011. I rewatched the movie with my mom this week, and it made me realize how amazing the movie was. It’s funny, it has a good story, and the songs are so amazing. It’s such an underrated movie and I’m glad that I was able to rewatch it. For the lowlights, the only ones I have are pretty general, the type of stuff that can be said for every week like being tired and school work. So overall, this was a good week.
The lesson that I learned from this week was that first thoughts can often be wrong. I’ve seen this is a variety of different things from this week. First there was the mongoose situation. We had all believed that the mongoose was actually a rat, and tried to take it out like a rat. But our first thought was wrong when it turned out to be a mongoose. Then there was the ISA. I expected the ISA to be pretty boring and miserable, but my expectations were subverted by the ISA being actually good. So sometimes when you go into something, what you expect can be wrong and you need to be adaptable to change.
After a week’s pause of Magic Note, we have a whole new wave of Magic Notes and there were a lot of good options. I ended up with 2 honorable mentions and 1 winner this week. The honorable mentions for this week are… Meygan and Riselle! Both of these Magic Notes share one thing in common, humor. Both of these Magic Notes were pretty funny and I felt like they deserved a spot as honorable mentions. And the winner from this week was…. Sienna! It feels like either Sienna knows the formula to the type of Magic Notes I like, or she is just good at writing them, because she keeps on winning. They are just so personal and deserving of a winning spot. So now Riselle and Sienna are tied at first and it will be fun to see who comes out on top. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
