Weekly Blog #2
Hello ‘Ilima!
Another week has gone by and Friday was (luckily) a break. This week has been pretty fun with the week ending with the elections. But before that, there was an almost full week of work. In Math and Science, there were pre tests where I got no result for one and a 14/15 for other which I am proud of. My Period 3 got to work TV and I was able to learn how to set it up and also work a station. The lunches were still mediocre and I didn't have lunch on Thursday. I don't like that in Social Studies, we are going to have a substitute because Mr. Cole has to take his daughter to college. I don't like substitutes in general because they know us as well as our main teacher and they usually do things differently then the main teacher which can be annoying. We also started after school sales and my friends and I are excited for when the kitchen gets installed and real food can start being served. But an update of last blog, I still think Science is my least favorite class even when we did a fun experiment because Dr. Heloca is to quiet but it doesn't mean I don't like the class. Then I would say Ms. Chen because she gave us a math test :( I still enjoy Mr. Cole and the art project was something that I am really proud of because I think I did a good job. Mrs. Miya is nice and she plays 80s music which is fun. Lastly, Ms. Scarborough had us share our slides which weren't bad and people commented on my dog saying that she looked like a racoon.
A highlight of this week has to be the making of my Social Studies art project as I had lot's of fun and I put so much work into it. My mom helped me make ideas for the drawing and I love the final product. Another highlight would be the science experiment we did where we attempted to make slime, but we all failed and it was very funny. A lowlight would definitely be the math test as I hate doing math, even though I think I did pretty good besides the last 3 questions. I haven't finished my I-Ready Math diagnostic so I guess that would be another lowlight but I feel like it is unfair because it always give me questions I don't understand. All around, this week has been fine and I wouldn't say it was overly positive or negative.
Finally, a lesson I learned this week was public speaking. I've never liked public speaking but I was able to present my bio cube confidently and loudly. We were taught a 5 step process on how to speak in front of an audience. To be unique, I would say a different greeting every time that would usually be in a different language. I had used Konnichiwa, Shalom, and Guten Tag. I'm thinking for my TV to use "Wonderhoy!" which is a greeting from a game that my friends like to play a lot called Hatsune Miku Colorful Stage. To get back on topic, the lesson has helped me be more comfortable while speaking in audiences and it will help in the future when I will have to do that even more.
This concludes my weekly blog and I hope that everyone has had a great week. I wish the best of luck for the candidates in the election and I wish you all a great rest of the week. Goodbye and goodnight. Cheers to another day!
