Weekly Blog 3-7 (60): Meeting of the Victors

Hello 'Ilima

What is up ‘Ilima! This week of school was much more of a ramp up week as next week is the big one. But that doesn’t mean this week wasn’t full of stuff to do. The biggest school event would be the Graduation Meeting. During this meeting, parents would learn about the 8th grade graduation and learn about the different parts of the graduation. There wasn’t very much to do as a leadership member, but it was still good to hear about the information for my graduation. That was the only school event, but I still had a bunch of class work. First, we have had this project in Computer Science where we need to guide a robot from one point to another. This project has been pretty frustrating at times because the robot sometimes just doesn’t do what you want it to do. And it’s hard to make changes to your programming because we are sharing the robot amongst the whole class, making it difficult to see the changes you make. I wish we had multiple robots in order for us to be able to all use them at different times. Then, we had a CFA in Social Studies on the Louisiana Purchase which was not very difficult. None of Mr. Damo’s CFAs are every really difficult, its’s just that you have to remember a lot of details. But besides that, not much else happened during school. So, the final topic I will be going over is my brand new logo! For context, my Retro Bowl league is about to start the playoffs and every team gets a neon version of their logo. My old neon was kind of bland as it was just the normal one but blue. So I spent some time on Canva designing a brand new logo and came up with logo that consists of wings around a pole. It has a pink base and bright green outlines to add that neon effect to it, and I think it looks awesome. I'm pretty excited for the playoffs this year as this is my second time ever in the playoffs and I will be going against a divisional rival. Hopefully I can win, but I at least made it to the playoffs which is awesome.

Period 1 Watching a Scary Movie

New Neon Logo

The first highlight of this week would be watching scary shorts with my period. I put an image of it above, but I am going to explain it a bit. So my period was just relaxing, until we started to hear Alex slightly scream. Checking in on her, we found out that she was watching scary short films. Our whole period then decided to watch the film with Alex and it was decent. But the funniest part was how scared the others were getting. It honestly confuses me on how they watch scary movies, because they always start screaming. But it was a really fun time and I'm glad I could watch some films with my period. The next highlight would be graphic design. During this week, I've been making a lot of different designs for a variety of things and they have been very fun to make. From the new logo, to banners, and other things, the process of creating these designs have been very fun and the results are always awesome. The only lowlight from this week would be the IAB. The IAB was like a big unit test and I was pretty stressed for it. Once I took the test, I felt confident but I learned that I didn't do the best. 13/17, at near. It was big blow to my heart, but I will recover.

To build off the last remarks from the last paragraph, the lesson from this week is that you shouldn't let the bad bring down the good. Not getting a good score on on test isn't going shouldn't bring down my whole world, and I should be able to use the pain from this one experience and use it to improve. Learning from your mistakes is always important and there are many things I can take away from this test. First of all, I should try to practice more often. Whether it is with IXL, IReady, or other tools, I should try and practice the concepts I learn. I can also try to collaborate with my peers so that we can study together and both improve. All of this makes me feel a lot better about the IAB and makes me look forward to more obstacles down the road.

For this set of Magic Notes, there were a lot of good options. It was hard to narrow it down, but I have 1 honorable mention and 2 winners. The honorable mention of this week is..... Naomi! Naomi's Magic Note made me laugh multiple times and it was kind of nice. But the winners of the week are..... Riselle and Sienna!! Riselle's Magic Note, though messy, had many callbacks and funny jokes that made it a clear choice as a winner. Sienna's magic note was very sincere and another clear choice. So we now have a definite top 3 with Riselle in first, Sienna in second, and Cheyanne in third. The competition is heating up and it will be exciting to see who wins. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
