Weekly Blog #14: Thanksgiving

 Happy Thanksgiving ‘Ilima

This week has been short due to Thanksgiving but it was still good. Because of Thanksgiving, we had the Turkey Trot. For the Turkey Trot, we needed costumes and I went all out for my pilgrim costume. It was sad that my hat couldn’t even fit my head but the costume was still really good. But not a lot of people commented on my costume which was kind of lame. Standing out there was kind of boring as the only other people were very far away. Besides this, it was good and I got to see a lot of people I knew. In math, we were basically learning addition which we made many jokes on. It was teaching us how to add integers with different signs but it’s very easy and we joked that we were back in preschool. Now we can’t talk about this week without mentioning Thanksgiving. My Thanksgiving was different this year as it was a lot less people. But with less people let us be more experimental. We tried out a recipe for candy yams and it was really good. So overall, this week was good but definitely short.

The Candy Yams

My Pilgrim Costume

A highlight from this week would definitely be Thanksgiving. Eating with my family and having fun was definitely amazing. Another highlight was seeing the reactions of my pilgrim costume from the other leadership members. It was very funny and I should do more surprise things. A lowlight would be the standing while working the Turkey Trot. It was boring and I honestly felt kind of lonely. But the event turned out good which is great.

The lesson I learned from this week is very unique and is something I already knew but the event was funny. So in AVID, we got to work on puzzles and I grabbed a seemingly simple 100 piece puzzle. But half the pieces were white…Who makes a puzzle that is literally two different colors that all look the same? This goes to my point that life is sometimes unfair. Nothing is handed to you and the situation might just be not be in your favor. But you still have to work hard. This concludes my blog and I’m thankful for you. Cheers to another day!
