Weekly Blog #26: Dance Till You Drop

              Hello ‘Ilima

This week was so crazy that I can barely even process all of the events. First of all, graduation picture taking was this week and it was pretty awkward. For the event, we had to dress the 8th graders in the shirt and gown and then take id off when they are done. Having to dress the people was kind of uncomfortable for me because I had to get so close to the people. Sometimes, the zipper on the gown would get stuck and then you have to scramble to fix it while the person is just watching you. But it was overall pretty good. Then, there was the Elementary School Dance Competition and it was exciting. I was pretty exhausted by the end from all of the standing, but seeing the dancing was cool. The show started with the Southside Breakers and they were great. They are a group of guys who can breakdance really well. The schools then performed after and my personal favorite was August Ahrens, but Ho’okele won which I wasn’t mad about because they were also really good. One of the judges did a solo dance and he was really good. But that wasn’t the last event, the last event was the Districts NHD competition at Mililani High School. I literally forgot that the event was on Saturday and had to prepare the day before, but I think I did really good. They had us do a quick interview with a judge and I was very nervous. But I just smiled the whole time and made good conversation. The judge liked my technical skills and I edited the interview feeling great. I spent the next couple of hours playing games with my friends and we had a great time. There was this huge Jenga set and some of the craziest stuff happened. We were able to balance the whole tower on the flimsiest base and it was so tense. When the winners announced, I was pretty sad that I didn’t won, but 3 of my friends won and are moving on to States. I am so happy for them and I can’t wait to see them win more. But this week wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Tests… First was the SBA Test and I hate it with every bone of my body. There is so much reading involved and I can’t wait for it to be over with. There was also a math test this week and it was kind of simple. There was only 8 questions, but most of the questions had multiple parts. I got a 100% on the test and I was really proud in myself. Overall, this week was super fun.

A highlight from this week was the Dance Competition because I had enjoyed watching the schools dance. Most of them were really good and it seemed like they knew their dance. I won’t name drop the school, but one of the teams definitely didn’t know the dance as much as the others. Another highlight was the NHD competition because I had so much fun with my friends. I also got a GhostFace mask which is pretty cool. Finally, the last highlight was during Science where we got to go to the teacher’s parking lot and move around. It was pretty cool to be back there and the others even filmed a TikTok video. A lowlight from this week would be lack of sleep I got. I was so exhausted from Friday and the Dance Competition, and having to wake up early for the NHD was painful for my soul. Another lowlight from this week was the SBA test because it just isn’t a fun experience. But this week was definitely an overall great week.

The lesson I learned from this week was have some respect. With how many blogs I’ve done, I can’t remember if I had done this one but this is a good lesson from this week. In a class that I had this week, the internet wasn’t working. The teacher had said that it would take a minute and a student replied with, “it has been a minute.” The teacher then replied with, “no 💩.” Then the two started arguing and the teacher told the student to leave. The student then said, “I’m skipping” and we didn’t see them for the rest of the day. This just shows how little respect someone has. Why argue about something when you can just say you are sorry? This could also be a lesson learned from the teacher as you shouldn’t just lose your cool that quickly. So this crazy situation, turned out to be a great teachable moment. With that being said, this is the end of this blog. I hope you have a good week. Cheers to another day!
