Weekly Blog #32: Slowing It Down

 Hello ‘Ilima

With all of the chaos from the last couple of weeks, having a week that was more calm was definitely needed. In this week, we got separated into new work groups which has so far been going well. My group consists of Sienna and Jacob and we started with music for this week. I really like my group because Jacob is a great friend of mine and Sienna is a pretty good leader. Next week we have tv which should be interesting for us to handle. On Thursday, my English teacher celebrated our high SBA scores with free lunch. The food offered ranged from chicken, to noodles, and to a lot of rice. It was pretty fun to eat delicious food with my friends and definitely a great celebration. This week also included my dad’s birthday. My mom and I decided to make him roast pork smothered in gravy over stuffing. He loved the food and we had a great time. Also, on Saturday, my Uncle came over and we had a sort of Birthday Dinner Part 2. This time, my mom and I made pork loin with mash potatoes. We had a great time eating food and also playing games. I’ve lost track over the school narrative, mainly because there wasn’t a whole lot going on. We had a social studies apology letter to people from the Marshall Islands, we finished The Outsiders, and I can’t really think of a third thing that we did. Overall, this week was pretty chill.

My Dad’s Birthday Dinner

A highlight from this week would be this week being more relaxed. With other weeks having 80 different events and crazy homework, this week felt like a breathing period for me which was definitely needed. The next highlight from this week would be the two Birthday Dinners I had. All of the steps, from shopping for food, preparing the food, and enjoying it with family was so amazing and definitely a big bright spot. The last highlight I am going to be covering is all of the Drake versus Kendrick Lamar beef. It has been so entertaining to listen to them going back and forth and hearing all of these awesome bars has been sick. This might be shocking, but I can’t really thing of a lowlight from this week. The only thing I can muster is the fact that we had to finish up the AVID College Project. I don’t really like AVID so it was kind of boring to do, but at least it is over. Overall, this week was really good.

The lesson I learned from this week is that getting out beforehand can give you better results. This goes back to the Drake versus Kendrick stuff as J Cole was also involved. He released a song but then immediately apologized for it. At the time, he got backlash as apologizing for a disgrace seems bad, but now it seems like J Cole is the real winner of the beef. He was able to keep his peace while Drake and Kendrick get to destroy each other, even if Kendrick is clearly winning. This lesson can help me in my life because sometimes you feel obligated to keep on going with something that makes to unhappy, so backing out might just be the best option. With that being said, this concludes the blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
