Weekly Blog #34: Short and Sweet
Hello 'Ilima
This week of school was 4 days, yet it was still pretty fun. This week was the start of the I-Ready Diagnostics and I am a kind of confident. I finished my ELA Diagnostic and got a 706, which was the highest score I know of. The ELA Diagnostic was pretty simple as I had did some studying of vocab and the questions were pretty easy to find. The Math Diagnostic is hard as always, but I've actually been going by it quicker. Usually I would be at around 30%-45% at this point, but I'm actually at 70% which is impressive for me. I don't know if I am doing good, but I'm going to be an optimist and say that I did really good. This week also had a lot of poor weather. On Monday, the power was shut off for the whole first period. The substitute allowed us to go on all phones all period which was pretty cool. There was also a bunch of rainfalls throughout the week which was nice to see. My friends and I have been going to different places on campus which has generated funny moments. There's a tree in the front of the school that works as a cozy chill out spot. We can climb around and throw leaves at each other which is enough entertainment for us. There's a really funny story I have, but I'm going to save it for later. On Friday, the Band class had their final concert so my friends decided to support my other friend at their performance. I enjoyed the show very much and my favorite song they did was "The Great Locomotive Chase". The song was like the music they would play during the climax of an action movie, and the different instruments they used in order to give that train feeling really made me immersed into the performance. In Social Studies, we started working on our children's book and it has so far been going well. My group is Torin and Julius and we are covering the problem of overpopulation. I was tasked with the writing of the story and I’ve so far done pretty good. I’m at around 760 words and I just need to finish the ending. Overall, these week was pretty good.
A highlight from this week would be going to the Band Concert. It was exciting to see my friends perform different musical pieces. One of my friends was really grateful that we came to see their performance which was super nice of them to stay. Another highlight from this week was the power shutting off during Monday. Going on your phone and relaxing is way better than doing work, so I’m glad that the power got turned off for that period. The first lowlight was the I-Ready Diagnostics as they just drain my energy so much. Now the last lowlight is in the story I brought up earlier. So my friends and I were at the big tree in the front. When I was hanging around, I got the idea that I wanted to try hang on after having a running start. So I got down from the tree and walked a couple yards away. I then started running and I jumped, grabbing onto the branch. But I didn’t have a strong enough grip and then, Splat! I was on the ground and my friends started laughing. They did ask if I was okay, so they weren’t totally mean about it. The impact was pretty painful, but I was able to get up with minimal injury. This is mainly a lowlight because I got hurt and I had 3 people laugh at me.
The lesson I learned from this week is to enjoy the moment. As my 7th grade year is closing out, I’m thinking about how fast time is going. So in all situations, I should enjoy the moment. Live my life with zero regrets and I’ll live a happy life. I’ve really gotten to know this with all of the fun times I’m having with my friends. I don’t want them to end, but eventually the bus will come or something else goes on which causes us to stop. So I need to enjoy life at every step because of how fast it really goes. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
