Weekly Blog 1-7 (42): Ohana Means Family
Hello ‘Ilima
This week of school was thankfully only 4 days with Friday being a PC Day. The biggest part of this week academically would be the Unit 2 Math Test I had. It was about angle relationship and I was pretty nervous because a lot of the concepts are a bit confusing. The test was around 10 questions and I would describe it as tricky. It was hard to understand, but once you did the rest would be simpler. All of my class was struggling to even finish the test and once I was done, I was nervous to find out my results. I ended up getting a 21/23 on it which was a huge sigh of relief for me. In other news, the Open House was had on Thursday evening. All of my teachers were there and it was a pretty decent time. My parents enjoyed each teacher and it seems like they are happy with the teachers I have. During the Open House, multiple teachers had called me out and it was pretty funny. Ms. Acob had commented on the fact that my friend and I’s conversations, were crazy, Mr. Heloca told the people about a time when I had said a reading wasn’t “age-appropriate”, and Mr. Van Hooser had me answer a question on the spot. That was pretty much it for school things, but a lot more happened during this week. Friday was the Ohana Fair and I had prepared heavily for it. I made sure to wear the best clothing, clean my hair well, and bring all the things I would need. The event was mostly similar to last year, but my friends and I still had a great time. At this moment, I have to make an announcement. I have another child. Her name is Gojo and I adopted her from the White Elephant Store. She joins Joseph to become the Iconic Two. Overall, Ohana Fair was really fun and I can’t wait for next years one. Moving on, I started watching Bleach this week. I don’t know how long it’s gonna take me to finish watching it all, but it’s so far very interesting. Basically, Ichigo is an orange haired 15 year old who can see ghosts. One day, while trying to help out a ghost, a monster starts attacking him. A soul reaper named Rukia defeats the monster and then leaves. Rukia enters Ichigo’s house later that night where he confronts her. She’s confused how he can see her and she explains to him the different types of ghosts. A different monster starts attacking Ichigo’s family and in a desperate situation, Rukia gives Ichigo soul reaper powers. This starts Ichigo and Rukia hunting down the evil ghosts. There’s a lot more to cover but that is like a short summary. I really like it so far for a multitude of reasons. The comedy in the series is really good and the fight scenes are fun. The only problem is that I don’t know how I will find the time to watch 366 episodes. This concludes my summary of the week.
The first highlight from this week would hands down be Ohana Fair. It was such a fun time walking around with friends and buying different things. I was also able to see a bunch of people I knew which is just a cherry on top. Another highlight would probably be the home-cooking I’ve done. My mom and I had made two big dinners this week. One was steak with scalloped potatoes and the other was pork chops with mash potatoes. The process of cooking for me is a really nice one that I enjoy doing, especially with someone like my mom. The food also ended up tasting delicious. A lowlight from this week would be the math test. It was super stressful and I was nervous the whole time. I’m just glad I got a good result. The other lowlight is stupid football. I’m already eliminated from my eliminator challenge because of all of the stupid upsets that happened. How does the Raiders beat the Ravens, how do the Buccaneers lose to the Broncos, and how in the world did the Panthers win a game? I’m genuinely losing my mind and my fantasy football. But this week was pretty good for the most part.
The lesson I learned this week would probably be to not go into things expecting the worse. I was not looking forward to Open House at all as I felt like it was just going to be boring and a waste of time, but it was kind of cool. This Open House is a good example on how I can be a bit pessimistic on new things. If I can learn to be open to new things and not judge off first impressions, then I can become a much more positive person. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
