Weekly Blog 2-10 (53): My Winter Arc is Here
Hello 'Ilima
HAPPY WINTER BREAK 'ILIMA! With this being the last school week of 2024, I am jumping up an down in joy. To say we had a lot of work this week would be a LIE! The biggest thing we had this week was a simple science test and crossword puzzles. Besides that, it was all free time and I was really soaking in the last couple days of school. But the only thing that was going to throw a wrench into my otherwise peaceful week would be the Winter Fair. On the last day of school, all of Leadership was preparing the A101 booth. We would be selling spam bowls, fried noodles, ice cream, and drinks. During my Leadership period, me and the rest of the period had to set up the outside tables and assist in making the food. Things went smoothly and once we were done with everything, we got to watch Mr. Ing make fried noodles. Their was a very distinct process where he first add the vegetables and spam. Then we would add the fried noodles and flavor packets. I couldn't give justice on how good the fried noodles smelled, but just know that it was amazing. It took a while for all of the fried noodles to be made, but we eventually had all of the food, drinks, and ice-cream ready for the fair. For the fair, everyone had three shifts. One in the beginning, one in the end, and one out of the three middle shifts. I had the second middle shift for my middle shift which was from 12:25 - 12:48. Once the fair started, we got to our stations and the crowds of people started rushing in. It was actually pretty chaotic with how many people there was but we were able to organize the chaos. But the first shift ended and the excess people, including me, left to be apart of the fair. My first order of business was finding some food. The library was selling a lot of stuff and I ended up getting a coke float and a brownie fudge Both were really good and after I was done finishing them, it was time for my middle shift. I was working as the Ice-Cream Runner which entailed me digging through the freezer to find the ice cream that the customer bought. The most bought ice-cream from my memory was the Melona. I've never had a Melona before but maybe I should try one someday. After my shift ended, I spent the rest of the fair with my friends. Then, when the fair was over, it was cleanup time. Everything from cleanup was such a blur because the only thing going through my mind was, "GO FAST!!!" And fast I went as we cleaned up our area pretty quickly. Overall, the Winter Fair was a 5 out of 10, there was a lot of work and the actual fair was a bit boring, but the food was good and I got to spend time with my friends. Besides the Winter Fair, nothing else really happened during school. The only thing we really did was watch movies during class. The movie that stood out the most for me was "The Pursuit of Happyness." It was a Will Smith movie about a person trying to be a stock broker. That sounds kind of boring on paper, but I really enjoyed it and there was a lot of emotional scenes. Moving on from school, my nose was doing my horribly wrong. Across these past couple days, my nose has been bleeding randomly. I have no idea why it is happening but I'm kind of concerned. But hopefully as I enter this winter arc, my nose will stop bleeding and I can get all of the rest I need.
The first highlight of the week was school ending. It is such a relief that I have multiple weeks of just relaxation and that I don't have to worry about any work till next year. The next highlight of the week would be watching Mr. Bob get dunked. You can see it in the first image above, but I will add some context. One of the games at the Winter Fair was this dunk game where students will be given chances to throw bags at a target and if they are able to hit the target, Mr. Bob will be drenched in water. I was able to record it happening and his reaction was priceless. The final highlight of this week would be Christmas shopping. My family and I went to Pearlridge this week and we started our Christmas shopping. It was really interesting trying to figure out what people would want to get, but I think I picked out some really good gifts. The first lowlight of this week would be my nose bleeds. They have been really annoying and I have lost a lot of blood from all of the bleedings. And like I said earlier, I am scared that there is something wrong with my nose. The next lowlight would be the abomination of food I made. On Saturday, my Mom and I went to Longs to get stuff, but I also bought some food to make. I got some breakfast sausage and some spicy fried rice. I cooked it all in a pan and the smell that came from it was awful. I started coughing like crazy and my nose was burning up. Once I had put the food one the actual plate and took a bite, my mouth experienced such an awful flavor. My mouth was burning up while the food was also not tasting good. It was such an awful experience but at least I know never to try it again.
The lesson that I have learned from this week came from the movie that I had watched in Financial Literacy, "The Pursuit of Happynes." I explained the synopsis earlier, but there was a lot of important lessons to take away from the movie. 1. Make smart decisions. In the movie, the main character bought a bunch of medical units in the belief that he could just sell them off. But nobody wanted it and he went broke. So you should think harder about your decisions before you make them. 2. Don't let other people tell you that you can't do something. The main character himself said those words to his son and it is a big driving point of the film. You need to have your own self confidence and you can't let anybody else tell you that you can't complete your dreams. Both of these lessons are very important if you want to be able to succeed in life. You have to avoid the bad decisions and be able to make the good decisions. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great winter break. Cheers to another day!
