Weekly Blog 3-1 (54): First Week Back in the Void
Hello 'Ilima
Welcome Back ‘Ilima! We made it through the first semester and 2024!!!!!!!! Just two more quarters left until summer break. But let’s recap this first week. This was only a 3 day week and there was not a lot that happened. I’ll start with school. This semester, I have a brand new elective, Computer Science. The teacher was supposed to be Ms. Mili, but apparently she isn’t going to be here until May. She apparently has some kind of job or something which means that she has to be gone for a while, so we are going to have a sub for most of the semester. We haven’t done any actual computer science and we have just done some ice breakers. But Computer Science isnt the only class where we will be missing a teacher. Subtract the computer and you get Science, where our teacher is also going to be gone for a prolonged time. Dr. Heloca will be gone for a month, handling some kind of medical emergency. Besides that, there were a couple seat arrangements in classes. Im coincidentally sitting the back right corners in both my ELA and Algebra classes. I like my new seats because it’s more isolated and it allows me to lock in. But that ends the talk about school and we can move onto some other things. Earlier this week, my friend group started a Life360 circle so that we could always track each other. It was pretty fun setting it up and naming the locations. Some of our spots are Zippy’s (friends house), The Bell (Taco Bell), and Infinite Void (school). It hasn't been that important in our first week of using it, but I have fun telling them to '🔌 Charge your phone' and '🙏 Be safe'. Last thing to note about this week was my Amazon spending spree. I had a couple Amazon giftcards that I never used and so I decided to make a list of things I wanted and the first wave of stuff came in. This wave was mainly clothing but I also got an ottoman so I could store stuff and rest my feet. This was overall I fine opening week, but I miss my break.
The first highlight of this week would be seeing my friends in person again. It was a long two weeks of staying in my room and rotting, so being outside and talking to my friends is really refreshing. The next highlight would be gambling 🤑. In Algebra, we had a math review game where we were broken up in groups and you would gain points if you answered questions correctly. On the final round, we were given the opportunity to bet our own points. At the time, my group had 23 points. My group bet 22 points. The question was something with slope-intercept form and my group got it done pretty quickly. So then when it came time to tally the new points, my group got 45 points and defeated every other group handily. I was so happy when I heard we won because my gambling finally worked. I was a part of the 0.01% of people who won big! The first lowlight of the week would be the ominous feeling of dread that I had during the whole week. It was like a shadow was looming over me and I was just miserable. I think that just what comes with being in school again, but I was constantly dreading what was going to come next. But this feeling of dread should go away and the rest of the week was overall good.
The lesson I learned from this week was that all good things will eventually come to end. This is sort of a joke, but it is also true. The most recent example of this was winter break. I was so happy being away from school, but work eventually has to come back and I need to be able to overcome my own discomfort in order to do my job. I can also use this thinking to look forward into the future where I will eventually need to put a lot of time into school and work. So like I’ve said before, cherish the good moments that you have now before it’s too late. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
