Weekly Blog 4-1 (64): One More Quarter

Hello 'Ilima

Welcome Back! This week of school marks the beginning of the fourth quarter and it was defintely an experience. The biggest thing from this week was Orientation practice. For the past couple months, Leadership has been preparing for the Orientation, working on our speeches and walks. This week was the first time we rehearsed in the Cafeteria and I think it went pretty well. The first thing to mention about the practice would be the blocks. Before we would start the rehearsal, we needed to move these huge wooden blocks to the floor. These blocks were so massive and it took like 8-12 people to move one block. But besides that, the rehearsals went well. The only real thing I needed to work on was changing clothes, but I already planned out how I was gonna go from each outfit to the next. Besides Orientation practice, this week was mainly getting back into the groove of school, waking up early and dealing with the lack of energy throughout the day. In school, most of the classes was just very basic things. But emphasis on most as a couple classes decided to keep their foot on the gas. In Science, we immediately had a test on the first day back which is just awful. The test was really easy, but it isn't good to put that level of stress onto us when we immediately come back. We then had a practice quiz in Math that wasn't overly complicated, but made much easier with the fact that we were allowed to use calculators. Besides these classes, the other classes gave us pretty simple things. ELA has us doing some activities, Social Studies is old work that I already finished, and Computer Science was just some simple coding challenges. The last thing I will talk about in this section is the 7th grade class day forms. During this week, SBG was tasked with collecting the forms from 7th graders. All we needed to do was check the signatures and make sure they the right payment. The task was simple enough, but nobody came. Like only four 7th graders were able to turn in their forms. But I think there will be more people turning in forms next week so I will just have to wait for that.

I got Kidnapped

The first highlight of the week would be getting to see my friends in person again. It's really awesome to be able to be around the people I care for and since the quarter is ending soon and we will be moving onto high school, I have to cherish these moments extra. The first example of this comes from the time I've spend with the people in leadership. From playing Uno during advisory or playing Piggy with my period, I've had a lot of fun with my friends and it's great that I can spend time with them. The next highlight would be home lunches. Since Friday of last week, I've started a mini diet, mainly cutting out sugar and carbs. So because of this mini diet, I've been bringing lunches from home to eat in school. All of these home lunches that I've been eating have been really good and given me energy during the day that I never got from the regular school lunches. The good taste and energy gain aren't even the only reasons why this has been positive as I've actually been losing weight. I've lost around 4 pounds so far and I hope that I can keep on losing more. The first lowlight from this week would be the bus. Before school started, I talked to my mom about my bus pass and she started doing the online work for the pass. But she wasn't getting an email from the school with the online pass. So for Monday I had to find a ride home. Riselle's mom was nice enough to pick me up, but I was concerned with how I was gonna get home for the rest of the week. After I got home, I asked my mom about the bus pass and she said that our request got denied because there wasn't enough space. So now I can't get back home with the bus which gives me a couple options. 1. Walk Home. Answer is no because that walk is dangerous. 2. Parents Drive me Home. This answer only works on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as there is a parent that can pick me up. But on Monday and Friday, none of my parents are available to pick me up. So then that leads to the last option. 3. The City Bus. I have never taken the city bus before and now I might need to take it by myself two times a week. It's just a terrible situation that can hopefully be resolved eventually. Besides that, this week was pretty good.

The lesson that I learned from this week was that the early bird gets the worm. The first way that I learned this lesson is from the bus. If we had requested a bus pass earlier than when we did, I may have actually gotten a buss pass before they ran out of seats. It's still horrible that I just can't take the bus anymore, but that's already explained. Then, there is the free time I got in class. In some of my classes, there was some work to do and if you had done it, you would get free time. A lot of people in my classes didn't finish the work so they didn't get as much free time, but I already finished my work beforehand so I got a full class of free time. So it's important to be early in what you do so that you can reap the benefits.

This week of Magic Notes was pretty fine, but there were two that stook out. The honorable mention of the week goes to.... Sienna! While lacking in detail, it was very nice and deserved a spot here. The winner from this week goes to...... Riselle! Her usual mix of humor and art propelled it over what was a pretty average set of  Magic Notes. So now the top two are tied again as the race gets more and more intense. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
