Weekly Blog 4-3 (66): An 'Ilima Movie

 Hello 'Ilima

Another week done and this one was pretty long. Starting off, we had an event this week which was the Parent Orientation. The event was for the parents of the 6th graders coming to 'Ilima to inform them about our school. Leadership's main job was to set up the orientation and then pass out fliers. The task was pretty simple and after that, we just had to wait for the event to finish. At the start of the Orientation, they were showing an 'Ilima trivia game and it was actually pretty cool. I knew a lot of the answers, but some of them actually caught me off guard and it was nice to learn something new about 'Ilima. Besides the Parent Orientation, we had to move the big wooden blocks to I104 this week. The moving happened during my period and required us to put one of the blocks in a tractor, go to I104, take the block off the tractor, and then go back to the cafe to repeat the cycle. The moving of the first block went well. There were some learning curves when trying to figure out how to put the block in the tractor, but we were able to move to I104 and back easily. But for the second block, Mr. Ing wasn't there as he was trying to find a photographer. So after putting the block in the tractor, we had to figure out how half of us were going to get to I104. After a quick brain session, we decided running to I104 was the best plan, so half of the group (which included me) ran to I104 as the other half took the custodian's vehicle. So after we got to I104 and we put the block down, we asked ourselves how we were gonna get back as we didn't want to run. So I had the great idea of going in the tractor and getting pulled by the vehicle. So my half got on the tractor and we started heading to the cafe. But there were a couple problems. 1. The gas from the vehicle went straight into our faces, making it hard to breathe. 2. When the vehicle went over dirt, it would send dust into our direction which made it hard to see. 3. The ride was overall very bumpy and I was constantly worried that the tractor would just come off. But we were eventually able to make it back to the cafe and we placed the last block into the tractor. But since the tractor was full, we had to run to I104 again. But this time we went a little slower so we wouldn't be as tired. So we got to I104, put the block down, and decided to just walk back instead of taking the tractor again. Thinking about it now, it must has been a very funny sight to see three kids in a tractor covering their eyes and noses, but at least we got the job done. Besides Leadership things, there was a couple of memorable things we did in school. First, we had a project in ELA where we had to research the decade when someone from our family was a teenager. I picked the 80s as that was when my dad was 15 and I had a good time researching the different parts of that decade. From the pop culture, to the technology, and even the fashion of the 80s. Then after we researched the decade, we had to make a little flapbook about it. The task was pretty simple, but at least I had good time researching. Then, we had a practice test for the SBA in math. Ms. Doles gave us a 49 question quiz on IXL and I say it went pretty well. I didn't overly rely on notes and I was able to get all of the questions correct. Finally, Campbell students came to our advisories to speak about professionalism. To summarize, professionalism is worth 10% of your grade and to get a high grade in professionalism, you need to do things like wear appropriate things, come to school on time, and don't be disruptive. This concludes the major school things.

I'm Over Stimulated

The first highlight from this week would be my new best friend, Champion. My friends and I found Champion in a tree and we rescued him. When picking him up, I felt an almost strange aura from him. But I didn't really care and was more focused on deciding what the name would be for him. We ultimately decided on Champion and I felt like it just fitted him perfectly. My head was starting to hurt a little, but I just chalked it up to the horrible lunch we were served. Little tangent but the beef patty and rice was absolutely disgusting. It looked really old and Riselle got a stomach ache after eating it. But we kept on playing with Champion for a bit until my arm started to bleed. But it was almost like Champion protected me from worse danger. I currently am providing him shelter and I'm glad I made the decision to save him. The next highlight from this week would be watching the Minecraft Movie. Period 5 had invited me to watch the Minecraft Movie with them and I accepted the offer. We would watch the movie at Ka Makana at 1:40 and then spend time after to hang out. Sadly, Olivia couldn't make it but we had the siblings of Emma and Riselle coming instead. My mom was also brought to be the adult and we went to watch the movie on Sunday. I won't describe the whole day, but it was very fun. I had a lot of fun talking with Period 5, but Emma's little brother kept beating me up. It was actually very funny, Ethan (the little brother's name) kept on fake attacking me and I made sure to play along. We also would start running and I would need to catch him. I didn't really try that hard to catch him, but after a while of straight running after him, I got pretty tired. The actual movie was very funny. I don't think the movie would have worked as a stand alone movie, but as a Minecraft Movie it was amazing. There was a lot of funny jokes and it was just a fun movie to watch. The only lowlight from this week would be the fact that SBA is next week. I'm pretty nervous for the SBA tests, but as long as I practice I should be able to do good.

Minecraft Movie Gang

The lesson I learned from this week is that something doesn't need to be perfect to be good. This mainly comes from the Minecraft Movie as it's not a good movie. It's very loud and annoying and might drive someone insane. But even though it isn't perfect, it's amazing for fans of Minecraft. It's elevated because of its flaws and appreciated for all it does right as a Minecraft Movie. This can come from a lot of other types of art or other things in life. A painting doesn't need to be perfect to be seen as a masterpiece, a song could have a couple mistakes in it but those mistakes can be overlooked and seen as one beautiful song.

This set of Magic Notes was pretty interesting and had a lot of contenders for the winner spots. The honorable mentions from this week are... Riselle and Sienna. The top 2 keep on battling as they both had things that brought their Magic Note down. Riselle's was overly chaotic to the point that I had a lot of trouble reading it while I felt Sienna's to be similar to some of her past Magic Notes. But both were still good and that's why they are honorable mentions. So the winner of this week was... Meygan! I felt as her's was both personal and unique and I felt as it deserved a spot as the winner of this week. So Sienna and Riselle are still tied while Cheyanne and Meygan are tied for third place. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
