Weekly Blog 4: A Lesson in Time

 Hello ‘Ilima

Another week has gone by and a lot happened for me. There were back to back to back birthdays, lot’s of lessons learned, and work on work. Saturday was one of my friend’s birthdays, Sunday was my mom’s birthday, and Monday was another one of my friend’s birthdays. All of this chaos doesn’t match the chaos of Monday’s traffic. There was so many cars and even an ambulance and police cars. I was almost late and I still had Pre-Algebra on that day 🙄 This week, my 3rd period worked music and there came a huge problem. Running the actual music system was simple and I had fun playing songs that may have been a bit weird. But when you have to end music, you need to wrap the cords. I could not wrap them correctly for the life of me and Reese even made me work more shifts because I couldn’t do it. But after a lot of practice, I finally wrapped the cords correctly and even better than some of the others. But with one thing completed, a new challenge was created. Mal found a random skateboard on the ground and I tried to use it. Fun fact about me, I am not a stable person. I could not stand on it correctly and fell multiple times. I still haven’t figured out how to ride it correctly but maybe next week will be better. We also went to I104 where we “learned” how to print shirts. Academic wise, the classes have been fine. Science has been jumping up my rankings as it has been fun. I’m AVID, we started meditation and had to make a one pager about it. I heard some bad things about the mediation but I don’t think it’s that bad. During AVID, we had a lockdown and fire drill. My AVID class would be goners if the lockdown was real because they kept on talking, giggling, and knocking on the tables. Math has been pretty okay, nothing good but nothing bad. In Social Studies, we learned about our quarter long project which is about a turning point in history. I already have a great idea but I’m keeping it to myself. Finally, English has been good with us reading more stories and learning about tools in writing. If I were to do a list of the classes it would be

1. Social Studies

2. Science

3. English

4. Math

5. AVID

A highlight from this week was conquering the challenge of wrapping the cord. It was a multi day process but the glory of finally doing it was great. Another highlight would have to be the lockdown and fire drill because it just used up time :) A lowlight would have to be the process of learning to wrap the cord as I was continuously mocked at my incapability of doing it. Then there was trying to skate which was also terrible as I was terrible.

Finally, a lesson I learned was the importance of a process. I didn't mention how we took photos around the campus and we had to learn a lot about how to use it. Without the lesson, I would just brute force it like I normally do which can cause lot's of mistakes. Then there was wrapping the cord and learning to skate. All of that has a process that needs to be learned and not just lazily done. I have to work on doing the process before I am able to do it. This concludes my blog and I hope you all have a good day and week. Cheers to another day!
