Weekly Blog #6: Normal is the New Boring

Hello ‘Ilima

Another week gone and everything has slowed down a bit. Flag Football has been a normal routine and there hasn’t been a lot of events. But the future has many events as there is a secret project in the works, along with a tour to teachers. We are touring Campbell teachers and we started the planning. I’m going to be giving a tour of the Band Room which my end up bad as I have never even stepped foot inside the building 😕 But I’m touring with Jabeez and he knows the room so he can teach me. But besides these events, nothing has happened. My group worked ID machine and it was fine. I like working the job as it’s chill and easy to learn. Classes were also fine but one of my classmates are leaving. But we had a new student to take their place. The new student doesn’t speak English but we were able to translate our work to them. All of the others didn’t really have anything to talk about. Lastly, there was at least something new in the making. This new thing was the Ish Battles for intermurals. I got to be in the ad so that was pretty cool. But the highlights come from the before and after. Football is back and I am so excited. I became a fan near the end of last season so getting to watch a full session will be fun. My team, the Buffalo Bills, lost the first game but we will come back. Then, on Friday, was the Ohana Fair. The Ohana Fair takes place at Holomua Elementary School and I went with a lot of my friends. I had such a great time and I got to meet some of my old teachers. Everything about the event was great and I can’t wait for next year’s Ohana Fair.

A highlight from this week would have to be football starting and the Ohana Fair. Both were so fun and exciting. I can’t wait for more football and I will be waiting for the next Ohana Fair. If I were to pick something school related, it would have to be the Ish ads. It was fun teaching some of the others how to play and taking a photo for the ad was long but funny. A lowlight would have to be my classmate leaving as they brought so much energy to the class and I’m going to miss them.

A lesson I learned from this week was photography skills. During Flag Football, I finally was able to take photos by myself and it taught me some good things. The main thing was angles as on multiple occasions, I would have bad angles which made the photo worse. A good trick I had was to go on the opposite side of the field that the team with the ball were on. This made it easier to take better photos. Then the next thing was zooming in. I was always either to zoomed in or out which made a photo less dynamic. The best thing I could do was step either away or to the action as it easier to get the perfect shot. This concludes my blog and I wish you the best of luck. Cheers to another day!
