Weekly Blog #9: Return to School
Welcome ‘Ilima
The 2nd quarter has started and we are already rolling. This week had one less day but we still did a lot. Drama has been the same ever since we started with us just playing games. I didn’t expect it to start so soon but it’s been good. One thing I have been really annoyed about is the bus pass. I had tried to get a new bus pass but I was handed a paper. I asked for a hard copy on a different day and they said that it hadn’t printed yet. Having to be stuck with the paper temporary pass is annoying because I have to open my bag to get the pass and then close it which takes a while because my bag is heavy. We also had a math test in the first week which is not cool. The math test was about the last unit we learned and I think I did well. We also switched the seating in math so that we are now in groups and not in columns. I worked music for this week and the schedule kept on changing because of other events that happened. Because of this, I worked most of the morning shifts which was fine. I enjoy working music because I get to choose the music that the people will be listening to, but it got kind of boring after working it so many times in a row. The things that happened around it was amusing as Dominic was drawing the states and the others were being goobers. Next week is going to be fun because GT is coming to Leadership. If my GT friend is right, I should know who all the GT are because I was in the same Enrichment class as them. I hope I could use this prior knowledge to help them adjust to Leadership. I would write about the lunches but I didn’t really eat for most of the days. I wasn’t hungry for those days and I don’t know why. The classes overall have been fine with not a lot happening. Some stuff here and there but I’m not stressing over anything. Kind of sums up the week as it has been fine with nothing bad happening.
A highlight from this week would be designing my magic note cover. I didn’t really cover it before but we had to make a cover for an important envelope. We got to design it with anything we wanted and I made it a newspaper. I put different headlines with the most shocking news and it was very funny. A lowlight would be having to get my bus pass because it was just annoying and is still not solved. But the week has been pretty good so there really isn’t any other lowlights.
A lesson I learned was to attack a problem from the roots. With a lot of these lessons, I knew them already but these events just reinforce into my head. The lesson came from AVID because of how Ms. Scarborough took multiple months to figure out a problem. So there are two tables that always talk during AVID. One table is full of boys and the other is full of girls and both tables find a new way to be annoying. At some points, Ms. Scarborough gets so annoyed that she switches around seats. But for the past couple of months, she switches the same 2 kids which does nothing as she doesn’t realize that the people she switched were just a part of the problem. For the boys, she needed to switch 2/3 boys who were making noise if she wanted to make them be quiet but she would only switch one of them. For the girls, they switched out the person who was arguably one of the most quiet on their table and sat close to the 2 other boys. It only took one of the boys literally saying that he wasn’t the problem and that one of the other 2 were the problem for her to figure it out. This is quickly turning into ranting but I’m just annoyed at how she didn’t know to switch 2/3 boys quicker when it didn’t work the first time. This concludes my blog and I wish you the best. Cheers to another day!
