Quarter Blog #2
Hello ‘Ilima
As the quarter winds down, we are as tired as ever and excited for the break. But let’s look back at this crazy quarter with just so many different things happening. First of all, the GTs arrived. I was so happy for them to be here because I knew all of them from my elementary Enrichment program which was fun. One of them was one of my good friends and I got to mentor him. It was fun and a bit exhausting to teach them all of the things they had to learn but the result was amazing because they got to become great workers. There were some bumps in the road but everything turned out great. Second, we got a whole lot of yearbook done. My page was 7th Grade Teams and I was able to finish it. Going out to all of the classes and taking pictures was really fun and watching the page get better and better until the end was very satisfying for me. We also had the first recognition night and it was so fun to watch all my friends go up to stage and get their (fake) certificate. When I walked up the stage, it felt like time was slowing down and I could see so many people I knew waving and screaming. Recently, we had a Winter Luncheon and the food was so good. There were spam musabi, chicken, noodles, fish, and my homemade cranberry sauce. The whole was experience was so fun with some very silly moments. Then we had ISA bowling which was also exciting. I was so bad because I literally forgot how to bowl which sucked because I hyped myself up to be so good at bowling just to be bad. But the team overall had success which is great. I also finished my NHD this quarter which was tiring. I made a website and I put so much effort into it which is why I am happy that my website is going to go to competition. Needless to say, this quarter has been so long with just so many different things happening that I couldn’t even mention. To speed run we had door decorating, turkey trot, team pictures, corn hole, and so much more.
There were so many highlights this quarter because of how great these past couple of months have been. To begin there was the GTs coming which was very fun, the ISA bowling which was cool yet a bit unfortunate, the recognition night which was very awarding, the making of yearbook which was satisfying, corn hole which was exciting, the holidays which have been all amazing, and the winter decorations which was very fun to make. All of these highlights were so great and there were even more highlights I didn’t mention like my choreography which has been going great. But with the high comes the low and there were a few lowlights. Some of these lowlights were NHD because of just how tiring it was, the multitude of tests we had which were hard for my mind, and the beginning of the GT coming because of just how quirky they were. But overall, this quarter has been amazing and I have loved most of it.
All of my lessons I have learned this quarter have all been about bettering myself. Some examples of this are don’t be dumb (obviously to help me make better decisions), don’t be gullible (to help me not get taken advantage of), be patient (to wait and not jump to things), life is sometimes unfair (to show that sometimes things won’t go your way and that it is okay), good work pays off (to help me want to do better work), momentum is key (to help me know that getting into a rhythm is better for me when trying to get work done), don’t use past experiences to assess current skill (to make me more humble and less likely to get made fun of), keep quiet when you don’t have to talk (to make me not get into trouble I otherwise would have), and to attack problems from the root (to make me more efficient with my problem solving). These lessons have made me a better human being and a better worker.
There are many things that I am looking forward to next quarter so it’s time to start listing. First of all, my leadership interview is happening in January and I am anxious but also excited. I want to get in and get a high score so I can’t wait for the interview. Second, I want to see the new ISAs that are happening because I always like working the events. I’m pretty sure that Spirit Week is in the 3rd quarter and if so, I am super excited for that because my elementary school also had a Spirit Week. Then, there is the recognition night which I am excited for because the last one was so good. There are so many things to be excited about and I can’t wait for the 3rd quarter. Actually I could wait because I need my rest. This could be my last blog of the quarter so I wish you a happy winter break, Christmas, and New Years. Cheers to another day and year!
