Weekly Blog 2-3 (46): The Halloween Week Hole

 Hello 'Ilima

This week of school was a much needed break from the exhaustion I had last week. The main selling point of this week was the long awaited Halloween. During the weeks before, I had been struggling to come up with a costume. Nothing was appealing to me until I had the perfect idea. A character that rivals the level of fame as I. Satoru Gojo. Once I had the idea, I ordered the right shirt and wig. But, the wig wasn't going to come in time so my mom and I went to Party City to look for a wig. There wasn't a lot of good options, with the only decent wig being some anime wig. We ended up buying the anime wig with the plan of styling it to make it better. Using a mixture of molding clay and hairspray, we spiked the wig up and gave it more volume. Then, when everything arrived, I put on the costume and it looked pretty nice. The only change I would have would be the wig cause I wish it could have more spikes. Arriving to school in the costume, people instantly recognized the character. It was actually funny because people didn't know that it was me cause of how good I was able to hide my hair. Throughout the whole day, a lot of people would point out my costume and it was really funny. Some kid even asked for my autograph. The rest of that school day was pretty normal except that I was in costume. Later that day, I went to my friend's neighborhood to go Trick or Treating. It was my same group as last year and we walked around for over 2 hours. I had such a fun time and the memories I made there was superb. In other news, I had a Cornhole tournament on Friday. 'Ilima needed people to fill in for the team and so I decided to join for fun. We had one practice on the day before and it was mainly for us to be able to get comfortable with the distance. The day of tournament, we were driven to Waipahu Middle School and brought to a PE building. The building, along with the rest of the school, was huge which made me wonder how many people go to Waipahu. The format of the tournament was a duos double elimination bracket separated by boys and girls. Jacob and I were a duo and we were team Halloween. We had practiced a little but we didn’t know what we were getting into. In the first round, we went against two Waipahu boys and in the beginning it was pretty close. Until they started dominating. They ended up winning 21-3 and we were put into the loser’s bracket. In the loser’s bracket we played against two Ewa Makai boys that we had practiced with earlier. We had did a bit better this round but we still lost 21-4. Getting bounced so early was both good and bad. The good thing was that I didn’t have to keep on getting embarrassed with my abysmal corn hole skills, but I would then have to wait multiple hours for the tournament to end. So I just went on my phone and zoned completely out. I don’t even know who won but it was probably Waipahu because they are total tryhards. After the tournament ended, we had stayed in the school because apparently Mr. Ing was trying to avoid a meeting. This left us to play sports in the courts they had. Jacob, Riselle, Marsali, and I decided on playing volleyball but we didn’t do a good job. After maybe 20 minutes, they left the court to sit down. I stayed  in the court because I wanted to practice shooting a basketball. I can do pretty much anything else on a court but I just can’t score. I don’t know how long I spent just throwing up bricks, but eventually Sienna, Naomi, and Olivia came onto the court to watch. At this same time, a group of boys were sitting down and they started heckling us. It irritated me as they were being perverts to my friends while also making fun of my shot. So I stormed off the court and sat down. My mood was totally ruined and I wanted to get back home immediately. After a while, we finally got back home and I could rest. Moving on, two big albums came out this week. Chromakopia by Tyler, the Creator and the Vengeance Saga, the newest part of the Epic Musical. Both of these albums were insanely good and had a lot of importance to me. I have been playing these albums all week long and I can’t get enough of them. Don’t ask me to rank the songs because they are all peak. Finally, I worked TV this week was my two gimmicks were pretty creative. The first one was a hippie and the other one was Toy Story themed. I like both of them for their own reasons and it’s gonna be hard to find some new ideas.

Peace brah, peace ✌️

The obvious first highlight of the week was Halloween. All of my friend’s costumes looked awesome and I had such a great time goofing around with them. Thinking back, that whole night was pretty insane. I won’t mention anything but I will say that someone should buy me high boots. The next highlight would be the releasing of the two albums. To get into more detail than I did in the last paragraph, I was very excited for both of these albums for various reasons. For Chromakopia, it was more of a cultural thing. At the beginning of the year, I had delved into more of the hip-hop and rap genres of music which changed a lot on how I perceived music. So this new album from a talented and respected artist in this field got me very excited and I was very happy with the results of the album. Then for the next one, I need some more explanation. I might have brought up Epic in an earlier blog, but it is basically a musical based of the Odyssey. I had discovered this musical a couple months ago and it had me hooked. The blend of mythology, adventure, heroism, and fantasy was exciting for me and all of the songs were well produced and made. So when the Vengeance Saga was announced, I was excited. When it came out, I started listening with some high expectations. And it absolutely destroyed those expectations. I won’t spoil anything if you want to listen, but the story takes some amazing turns and there are so many moments that makes me want to scream (in a good way). Overall, these two album releases had relieved all of my built up hype and exceeded all prior beliefs. Moving onto the lowlights, the only one I could probably name is corn hole. It wouldn’t have gone on the lowlight list if I had just sucked and got eliminated quickly, but that plus those stupid boys had completely ruined my day and deserved a spot here. But this week was more good than it was bad.

I learned two lessons from this week. One is from reflection and one is from observation. The observation one was that no matter what adversity you go through, you need to show resilience to get pass it. I got this lesson from Epic as the main character goes through so many obstacles and Dangerous situations that you would think he would be Done For. But instead of Suffering, he continued to go Full Speed Ahead until he would Survive and be able to say that We’ll Be Fine. Then, the lesson I learned from reflection is just because one bad thing happens, it shouldn’t ruin your whole day. If you bought 1440 plates and couple of them were scratched, you wouldn’t throw away all of the plates. So if a couple minutes of your life are bad, that shouldn’t ruin the other hours of your otherwise good day. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
