Weekly Blog 2-6 (49): Eggs, Tacos, and Hexagons
Hello 'Ilima
This has so far been one of the most eventful weeks of school. We had the last family nite of the year, lots of school projects, and more. Starting off with the family nite, it was themed off the electives and for this year, Leadership was making a booth. SBG was in charge of it and we came up with some good ideas. We were going to play music, display yearbooks and vests, and play old broadcasts so they could see all of the different things we do. We also designed a pamphlet to hand out that turned out really great. The images were pretty nice and I think the writing really summed up Leadership in a good way. After setting up the booth, SBG were the ones who got to work it and it was fine. I personally didn’t get a deep conversation with a parent about Leadership, but there were some people who seemed interested which is amazing. Moving on, I was on TV again and I had some truly amazing skits this week. The first day, I puffed my hair up to look like a huge Afro. I wish that my hair looked larger but it was still nice. Then there was the Wicked Witch of the West. Someone came up with the idea near minutes before the broadcast cast started, but it still turned out really good. After that was the car crash which was one the funniest bits I’ve done, in my opinion. The last one from this week was an apology video where I brought out an ukulele and fake cried. To top all of these skits, I’m going to need to think really hard. In other news, Friday was ISA but I didn’t have to go to this one which meant I needed to find a new leadership period and advisory. I admittedly kept on pushing back talking to the teachers, but I eventually got Mr. Bob as my advisory and Ms. Acob as my Period 1. With the order of the day, Mr. Bob’s advisory came first and it was pretty fun. I just goofed around with my friends cause a lot of them were in this advisory. Then with Ms. Acob’s class, it was pretty chaotic. The period 1 was much more louder than my period and it felt like the students got nothing done. I spent my time in that class working on my hexagon summative. The summative is basically us connecting words from the stories we read and explaining the connections. I’m working with my friend Brahn and I’m assigned with writing the explanations. I have around 5 more to do so I will just finish them in class. Other class work we did was an egg drop experiment in Science. I was working with my usual partners in Torin and Chauncey and our design went through many changes. Eventually we ended up on a design that was a base box that had a box inside of it covered by a lid. The egg would be wrapped in tape and taped to the inner box in order for the max amount of protection. In both drop tests, the egg didn’t crack once even with around 6 newtons of force being applied to the box. The final thing I’ll mention from this week was the soft shell tacos. On TV, I (along with a lot of other people) noticed that the lunch for one of the days was soft shell taco. This came as a major shock as this was something new. So when it was time for lunch, I headed immediately to the cafe to try the new dish out. The cafeteria was packed but after a long wait, I got my food and examined it. It was lacking in cheese and looked really dry but I was not gonna take a chance with the salsa. I turned the tacos into a burrito and then took my first bite. Like I had suspected, it was pretty dry but it wasn’t horrible. On a scale of 1-10, I would probably rate it a 5 or 6.
