Weekly Blog 2-5 (48): Vocal Corns

 Hello 'Ilima

This week of school had a lot going on. First of all, we had the start of Intramural Cornhole. It was supposed to start last week but due to weather, it kept on getting pushed back. Our job for the event was to just pass the bags back and keep people in check until the scoring rounds came. That part was easy but the hard part was having to miss out on something useful like working on projects or talking with friends. Doing cornhole means that all of our freetime snaps away and for that time to be used for an event that nobody cares about is really funny. There were also issues with the schedules because of all the push backs which caused some chaos. But we always clean it up and the event went mostly smoothly. The other big thing from this week was Recognition Night. It was the first Recognition Night of the year and it was packed. There were over 200 kids to get honor roll and a majority of them showed up. Our jobs were pretty simple and the whole night went well. The best part from the Recognition Night would have to be screaming for my friends. Unleashing my powerful vocal chords and shouting and the top of my lungs is always amazing and exciting. Besides these events, talent show auditions had also started. Riselle was the one who was managing it, but I did help with one thing. A group of four 7th graders are going to perform live music and I had to help set up the equipment with the parents. Well, the world help is kind of giving me too much credit. I waited for them to show up in the cafe, and just waited to see if they needed anything which they didn't besides needing a carpet. But the band was actually pretty good. They started playing afterschool and it sounded nice. I'm pretty sure I will have to work the event but I might actually look forward to it. Besides that, the week was fine. I got to get a second attempt at skateboarding as two of my friends brought their boards afterschool while waiting for the Recognition Night. If you remember the first time I tried, I was pretty awful. Rock bottom levels of awful. Well I would like to inform you that I've reached below rock bottom. My balance is so awful that I can't stand on the skateboard for longer than 5 seconds. Maybe I need more of Ms. Scarborough's meditation. Overall, this week was pretty fine.

The first highlight of my week would be Recognition Night and the waiting beforehand. It was another long night but I actually was able to have fun. I played volleyball with my friends, attempted to skateboard, and did productive things. The actual night was also pretty fun because I was able to scream for my friends. The next highlight of my week would be my continued and sustainable dominance in my Retro Bowl League. I am currently 6-2 and the Roanoke Flamingos continue to roll. The first lowlight of my week would be cornhole. It was very boring and also a big waste of time. The kids weren't even good at cornhole. Looking back at this week, I thought there would be more things to mention here but this week was actually pretty short.

The lesson I learned from this week was that you need to appreciate the little parts of life. Spending time with my friends afterschool, watching others have fun in ELA, and seeing other kids walk up the cafeteria steps made me appreciate the parts of life even more. All of these moments that might just be a blip to others should be a beautiful flower. A flower that is cherished and nourished. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
