Weekly Blog 2-4 (47): Nobody Nose
Hello 'Ilima
This week of school was rather a blur with there only being four days. The interesting parts of my week came outside of school but I will speak on that later. To begin, this week was supposed to be the start of cornhole, but it kept on getting pushed back. I was honestly happy that it was because every time we have an activity like cornhole, it requires hours of standing in the heat which my immune system can't take well. But with the lack of cornhole, it kind of left a hole of what to do. There wasn't much volume in this week for Leadership so we can move on to academics. One word could be used to describe this academic week. Tests. Social Studies, Algebra, and Financial Literacy all had different tests and varying difficulties. The hardest one by far would be the Algebra test. It took me a whole period to finish and I ended up with a 37/42 that got boosted to a 40/42 because I did the extra credit. It was a pretty stressful test and I know a lot of the other people in my class had troubles. The other two tests were fine as we were given study guides to use beforehand and I would end up acing both of those. Besides that, nothing else really happened this week. So this will transition us to the out of school activities. A couple of days ago, Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade came out and my friends and I decided to get it cause we all enjoy Jujutsu Kaisen. After going through the tutorial and entering in a bunch of codes, we had the freedom to do quests and explore different things. So for over the past couple of days, we have been grinding this game. I'm pretty sure I have the best lineup at this point but it could quickly change if someone else gets a good character. Then, I had also designed a stadium and jerseys for my Retro Bowl League. If you don't know, Retro Bowl is a mobile football game where you have control of a team and you play out a normal season. Dominic had invited me to the league a couple of months ago and my first season was atrocious. I was the worse scoring team in the league and ended with only 2 wins. So for my second season, I had to make a lot of changes. We completely shifted our culture and we are off to a hot 4-1 start. So in celebration of this, I designed a whole bunch of things for my team that had the forementioned stadium and jerseys, but also included a mascot and event. It turned out pretty nice and the people in my league liked it. Finally, my nose has been killing me lately. I've been needing to blow my nose like every couple minutes. I've been trying some different ways to cure it and so far the thing that has been working the best are these nose straps that are supposed to clear my nose. Besides actually working, they also look cool which is awesome. Overall, this week was pretty quick with not a lot going on.
The first highlight from this week would be from my Retro Bowl League. Like I had said earlier, I was struggling very hard in my first season in the league. I was getting stomped every game and my future had looked bleak. But I took that opportunity to improve and to stand above my mistakes. Being able to win games now and actually succeed has been so rewarding and I can't wait to see how the rest of the season turns out. The next highlight would come from a story that my friends and I have been writing. We had been pretty stagnant for the past couple of weeks, but we were able to clear up some issues and we have been working much better lately. Our story is progressing better and our communication has improved. Then, for the first lowlight, it would be my nose. I have been needing to constantly go to the bathroom to throw away tissues and stick Vicks up my nose. I literally have been doing this while writing my blog. I tried making a tea from a box but they recommended drinking it immediately after making it. My tongue is burnt. But that is probably the only lowlight as this week was a very nothing week.
The lesson I learned from this week is that a stable communication is the basis for teamwork. With the example of the story my friends and I were writing, we didn't have the best communication as our ideas weren't properly shared and everyone was at different points in the story. But now that we are more motivated and have better communication, we are actually working together better and producing a better product. I also learned from this week that patience is a virtue. I sometimes lose my patience quickly, but I need to remind myself that waiting will allow for a better outcome. I needed patience with my league, I needed patience for my story, and I need patience for the rest of my life. With that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week. Cheers to another day!
