Weekly Blog 4-6 (69): WE DID IT!!!

 Hello 'Ilima

'ILIMA HAS NOT ONE, NOT TWO, NOT THREE, BUT FOUR CONSECUTIVE CHHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE COMPETITION!!! Good day 'Ilima and what a week it was. The obvious part of this week that I need to talk about is 808 Battlegrounds/Dance Competition. On Saturday, the Royal Prodigies had to preform against the other middle schools. These performances are judged on a variety of different factors which results in one school being declared as the winner. The Royal Prodigies were looking to get their fourth championship in a row this year, but it wasn't going to be easy. Other teams were starting to catch on to what we were doing (being good and having good production) which caused a total step up in the competition we were facing. But what the Prodigies had in store was unlike anything seen before. But you are probably asking, what do you have to do with story? Well fair viewer, I had an important role. Me, along with the rest of Leadership who wasn't apart of the Prodigies, worked as part of the Production team. Our main role was to run onto stage during a specific part and move the boxes up in a span of 10 seconds, but we also helped in getting the props ready for the show. That Saturday started with us arriving to school at around 9. From there, we waited for the bus to arrive and then we had a hour long drive to the Blaisdell. Then we all got out of the bus and walked to our production area. After placing our stuff down, we worked on making the UFO look nice. I was pretty tired throughout this first part of the day, but I still contributed and in no time it was our first food break. I had brought a basic sandwich and bbq chips for my lunch and I was able to enjoy my food outside the rest of production. One of the best parts of this entire day was the time I spent with the rest of production as we made lots of jokes and had a lot of run, and this lunch break was no different. From cartwheels, to projectile wars, and so many dogs, I had a lot fun during this break. Then after that, it was back to working on the props and practicing our part on stage. We did this for a couple hours until it was time for Linner. They provided us with either Kalua Pork or Chicken bentos and I picked the Chicken one. It was very yummy and I ate it up in no time. During this break, we met a new friend, an 8th grader named Jianna, had a four-legged race, and I even formed a band with Emma, otherwise known as the Harmonizing Feins. But after all of this work, it was time for the show to start. Production was actually able to start the show in the crowd and we got to watch the first couple of shows. But then we were headed back to our production area where we prepared ourselves for the start of the show. I haven't mentioned this yet, but there were two separate teams that were in charge of moving their box. I was apart of Team Speed which consisted of me, Riselle, Cherish, Meygan, and Mal. Four of us would be carrying the box while Meygan moved the chair behind it which would be used by the dance to get on top of the box. The other team was Team Slow, but we don't talk about Team Slow. The two teams got ready at their boxes and then it was just a waiting game. After 5 performances, it was finally the start of the middle school division and the Prodigies would be going first. This meant go time and so we brought all of the props on stage and then went behind the wings to wait. The Prodigies started their performance and it was really good. But then, it was time for the two teams to shine. When we saw a specific cue in the dance, it meant that we had to rush onto stage, move the box forward, and then rush off the stage. But Team Speed was prepared for anything and once we saw our cue, we rushed onto stage, moved that box, and got off as quickly as we could. It was very exhilarating and we successfully did our job. After the Prodigies were done with their performance, we moved the boxes off the stage and went back into the crowd. We were all able to calm down and enjoy the rest of the show from there on. But, once the show was about to end, we all needed to go back so that we could go on stage for the ceremony. When it was time for the winners to be announced, I was so excited. I was still full of adrenaline from the performance and I felt like I could do anything. After the division two winner was announced, all of the middle schools got onto stage and we patiently awaited to see who the winner was going to be. I closed my eyes and put my head down as the announcer said who was the winner. "The kids from 76 south!" When he said this, all of  'Ilima jumped up in excitement. We had won. To be honest, I didn't know 'Ilima was known as 76 south so I was pretty confused, but I quickly got the message that we won when I saw the reactions of my friends. FOUR TIME CONSEQUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! The cherry on top was that Campbell won the Highschool Division which meant that Ewa Beach OWNED division one middle school and high school. The adrenaline was shooting through the charts and I was filled with pure joy and glee. The bus ride home was a joy as we sang karaoke and relished in victory, although we had thought we lost Riselle before boarding the bus. Overall, competition day was amazing. Even though I was tired during the beginning of the day, there is no joy like winning something. The pure feeling of bliss is hard to truly describe, but it is just amazing.

The first highlight would be my Retro Bowl League. So the funny part of Saturday was that the competition wasn't the only thing I won. Let me put some more context. My league started the playoffs and I was ranked as the 3 seed. As a top 4 seed, I was able to get a bye week until I faced my first opponent in the Wildcard Round. The Cowans, the 10 seed in my conference, were a long standing franchise that never were that good. I was able to beat them pretty easily with a score of 61-42, but the real challenge was facing me in the Divisional Round. The Memphis Monarchs, the conference's 8 seed, are a trash talking and destructive opponent. They ranked #4 in the Power-Rankings and I was very nervous. But I was also confident as I was #5 in the Power-Rankings and I had been on a crazy hot streak. Si throughout all of Saturday, I patiently waited for the scores to be released. But eventually, the scores were announced and I had beat them by 1 point. 56-55. The game was actually much more close then even that score says as we had actually scored the same amount of points. In order to settle the tie, they looked through our roster's star ratings. I barely had a higher rating then the Monarch's which gave me the slightest edge over them. But in what was defintely the game of the year, I was able to win and move onto the Conference Championships. As I am writing this, I am still waiting for those scores to be released and I shall patiently wait for them to come out. The next highlight from this week would be playing IRL dress up. As a bet, one of our friends had to wear thigh highs. After seeing them wear the thigh highs on, we decided to bring them more clothes to wear. My one friend brought most of the stuff, but I brought the pink bow from Spirit Week for them to wear. We had a lot of fun dressing our friend up and they looked very funny. The only lowlight from this week would be the fact that I basically lost one my rest days. I love having Saturday off so that I can rest and recover from a long week of school, but I think it was well worth it.

The lesson that I learned from this week is that hard work can go a long way. The Royal Prodigies had been working non stop on practicing the dance and making sure they got every little detail right. They had a level of dedication and effort that needs to be applauded. So to see all of their hard work result in what they been fighting for must have been so gratifying and relieving. This then branches into a more overall lesson of how hard work pays off and goes a long way.

In this showing of our weekly Magic Notes presentation, we had a lot of good Magic Notes that each deserved their own shot at winning. But with that being said, let's move onto the announcement. There were NO honorable mentions this week so we can go straight to the Winners. The Winners from this week are... Naomi and Riselle. Both of Naomi and Riselle had lengthy Magic Notes that had a mixture of humor and sincerity which made them the most worthy choices of being winners. Riselle is now pulling away from Sienna and is holding onto the first place position. But the race for third place is on fire with a three way tie going on between Cheyanne, Meygan, and Naomi. But with that being said, this concludes my blog. I hope you have a great week! Cheers to another day!

Leaderboard:
Riselle: 8
Sienna: 6
Cheyanne: 2.5
Meygan: 2.5
Naomi: 2.5
