Weekly Blog 2-10 (53): My Winter Arc is Here

Image
Hello 'Ilima HAPPY WINTER BREAK 'ILIMA! With this being the last school week of 2024, I am jumping up an down in joy. To say we had a lot of work this week would be a LIE! The biggest thing we had this week was a simple science test and crossword puzzles. Besides that, it was all free time and I was really soaking in the last couple days of school. But the only thing that was going to throw a wrench into my otherwise peaceful week would be the Winter Fair. On the last day of school, all of Leadership was preparing the A101 booth. We would be selling spam bowls, fried noodles, ice cream, and drinks. During my Leadership period, me and the rest of the period had to set up the outside tables and assist in making the food. Things went smoothly and once we were done with everything, we got to watch Mr. Ing make fried noodles. Their was a very distinct process where he first add the vegetables and spam. Then we would add the fried noodles and flavor packets. I couldn't give justi...

Quarter 2 Blog

Image
Hello 'Ilima Man, so much has happened. This second quarter has felt like one of the longest periods of time in my whole life. I have a couple of explanations for this later on but for on, let’s do the big recap of this quarter. There was a ton of different events that went on during this quarter. We had the last couple Family Nites, the first Recognition Night, a lot of ISA Events, a bunch of Intramurals, and the first Talent Show in years. If I were to rank these events, 1. Playable ISAs (Cornhole and Bowling), 2. Talent Show, 3. Recognition Night, 4. Family Nite, 5. Boys Volleyball and Girls Basketball, 6. Intramurals (Cornhole and Turkey Trot). Starting with the bottom, we find the two intramurals. Now, this ranking is more about one than the other. Turkey Trot was pretty decent. Cornhole, however, is a totally different story. To illustrate what I would otherwise rant about, would you rather spend 1 hour outside doing something that nobody involved wants to do or literally an...

Weekly Blog 2-9 (52): Bowling for Ships

Image
Hello 'Ilima What's up bowlers and ballers! One more week of school left and I couldn't be more excited! During this week of school, we had two big events. The first of these was the 8-3 Field Trip which was on Wednesday. We were going to Pearl Harbor to learn about the different submarines and the history behind them. Arriving at Pearl Harbor, all of 8-3 was brought to a circle full of chairs where some adults explained what we would be doing. We were then divided into groups and sent out to the museum. My group began by listening to some people who were running booths. The first one was from a guy explaining how you can clean saltwater. The other booth had a submarine model that was in a tank that would fill up with water. It was pretty cool to see and there was other cool exhibits inside the museum. Our group then went to the USS Bowfin and we got to actually walk in and explore the ship. It was so awesome seeing so many antiques and exhibitions of the past. We got to se...

Weekly Blog 2-8 (51): Presentations of Talent

Image
Hello 'Ilima We are entering the homestretch! Just two more weeks of school before winter break and I couldn’t be more excited. I am tired and exhausted, but let’s cover what has happened this week. The biggest thing from this week was the first talent show in 7 years. We were finally able to get enough people to sign up and there was many preparations to the show. I’m pretty sure I mentioned this in an earlier blog but I had helped set up a group’s equipment a couple weeks ago. On the night of the talent show, the different contestants were given some time to practice what they were going to be doing. The variety of talents weren’t that diverse, mainly singing and dancing, but the performers did a really good job in their own ways. My favorite performances would have to be Blackout and Riselle’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea performance. Blackout was the band of 7th graders and they played 3 songs, Everlong, 505, and a third one that I forgot. They did really good and I especiall...

Weekly Blog 2-7 (50): A Very Thankful Time

Image
Hello 'Ilima HAPPY 50 BLOGS!!! This has been a long time coming and I have grown so much over the course of these blogs. My format has changed, my style has changed, and so much more. I am so grateful for all the people who read this and I can't wait for the future milestones. This week of school was shortened because of the Harvest Banquet but it still had some stuff to it. The biggest event from this week was the Turkey Trot. For this year, there was no race because apparently kids were getting hurt. My job was also different this year as I was helping with attendance and not being a human cone. A decent amount of classes came and they were mostly behaved well. I brought my pilgrim hat from last year just to bring some holiday spirit. Another thing from this week was the evacuation drill. We had learned a bit about the evacuation the week beforehand and Monday was the day of the drill. I actually didn't know it was gonna happen Monday, and I especially didn't expect ...

Weekly Blog 2-6 (49): Eggs, Tacos, and Hexagons

Hello 'Ilima This has so far been one of the most eventful weeks of school. We had the last family nite of the year, lots of school projects, and more. Starting off with the family nite, it was themed off the electives and for this year, Leadership was making a booth. SBG was in charge of it and we came up with some good ideas. We were going to play music, display yearbooks and vests, and play old broadcasts so they could see all of the different things we do. We also designed a pamphlet to hand out that turned out really great. The images were pretty nice and I think the writing really summed up Leadership in a good way. After setting up the booth, SBG were the ones who got to work it and it was fine. I personally didn’t get a deep conversation with a parent about Leadership, but there were some people who seemed interested which is amazing. Moving on, I was on TV again and I had some truly amazing skits this week. The first day, I puffed my hair up to look like a huge Afro. I wi...

Weekly Blog 2-5 (48): Vocal Corns

Image
Hello 'Ilima This week of school had a lot going on. First of all, we had the start of Intramural Cornhole. It was supposed to start last week but due to weather, it kept on getting pushed back. Our job for the event was to just pass the bags back and keep people in check until the scoring rounds came. That part was easy but the hard part was having to miss out on something useful like working on projects or talking with friends. Doing cornhole means that all of our freetime snaps away and for that time to be used for an event that nobody cares about is really funny. There were also issues with the schedules because of all the push backs which caused some chaos. But we always clean it up and the event went mostly smoothly. The other big thing from this week was Recognition Night. It was the first Recognition Night of the year and it was packed. There were over 200 kids to get honor roll and a majority of them showed up. Our jobs were pretty simple and the whole night went well. Th...

Weekly Blog 2-4 (47): Nobody Nose

Image
Hello 'Ilima This week of school was rather a blur with there only being four days. The interesting parts of my week came outside of school but I will speak on that later. To begin, this week was supposed to be the start of cornhole, but it kept on getting pushed back. I was honestly happy that it was because every time we have an activity like cornhole, it requires hours of standing in the heat which my immune system can't take well. But with the lack of cornhole, it kind of left a hole of what to do. There wasn't much volume in this week for Leadership so we can move on to academics. One word could be used to describe this academic week. Tests. Social Studies, Algebra, and Financial Literacy all had different tests and varying difficulties. The hardest one by far would be the Algebra test. It took me a whole period to finish and I ended up with a 37/42 that got boosted to a 40/42 because I did the extra credit. It was a pretty stressful test and I know a lot of the other...

Weekly Blog 2-3 (46): The Halloween Week Hole

Image
Hello 'Ilima This week of school was a much needed break from the exhaustion I had last week. The main selling point of this week was the long awaited Halloween. During the weeks before, I had been struggling to come up with a costume. Nothing was appealing to me until I had the perfect idea. A character that rivals the level of fame as I. Satoru Gojo. Once I had the idea, I ordered the right shirt and wig. But, the wig wasn't going to come in time so my mom and I went to Party City to look for a wig. There wasn't a lot of good options, with the only decent wig being some anime wig. We ended up buying the anime wig with the plan of styling it to make it better. Using a mixture of molding clay and hairspray, we spiked the wig up and gave it more volume. Then, when everything arrived, I put on the costume and it looked pretty nice. The only change I would have would be the wig cause I wish it could have more spikes. Arriving to school in the costume, people instantly recogni...

Weekly Blog 2-2 (45): Example of Exhaustion

Image
Hello 'Ilima To say that I am tired would be a massive understatement. So much stuff has just been happening and more things are going to be added to my plate. This busy week started with the GT coming to Leadership. The GT were three girls and I had known two of them beforehand as one of them was my friend’s sister and the other one was in my elementary’s school Lion King play. The third one, Sonora, happened to be the one in my period and she was pretty cool. The 7th graders in my period taught Sonora how to blog and helped her create her covers with minimal help which was a proud moment for me as it shows that we have been teaching them well. Moving on, the Complex Area Superintendent (CAS) came to ‘Ilima for a tour and the Student Body Government had to give him a presentation and tour. We had been preparing with a slideshow and evenly split up the slides so that we would be ready for when the CAS came. At 8 AM, we arrived in a conference room and Mr. Greenland showed us the s...
