Quarter Blog #2

Image
Hello ‘Ilima      As the quarter winds down, we are as tired as ever and excited for the break. But let’s look back at this crazy quarter with just so many different things happening. First of all, the GTs arrived. I was so happy for them to be here because I knew all of them from my elementary Enrichment program which was fun. One of them was one of my good friends and I got to mentor him. It was fun and a bit exhausting to teach them all of the things they had to learn but the result was amazing because they got to become great workers. There were some bumps in the road but everything turned out great. Second, we got a whole lot of yearbook done. My page was 7th Grade Teams and I was able to finish it. Going out to all of the classes and taking pictures was really fun and watching the page get better and better until the end was very satisfying for me. We also had the first recognition night and it was so fun to watch all my friends go up to stage and get their (f...

Weekly Blog #17: Locked In

Image
Hello ‘Ilima      Another week goes by and we are just a couple days away from break. I’m so excited and this past week has been good. I finished up my yearbook page which I spent the whole week on. Some classes were really difficult to get pictures of because it was usually too dark but it all worked out in the end. I can’t wait for the finished product. Then, we had a science project this week. We basically had to find a way to terraform Mars with and then have to present it. My group’s idea was a full on operation to build factories on Mars. The presentation went well and the other group’s ideas were also good. The NHD project is at the point that we can start turning it in and I have been working on improving it so then I can put it into competition. We also had to try out a new curriculum in ELA which was boring. It was so long and they asked for too many things. At least I got the extra credit. The cover picture for the yearbook was starting to get made and I ...

Weekly Blog 16: Love and War

Hello ‘Ilima     This past week has been exhausting to say the least. Events from Monday seem like decades ago. But it has all been meshing finely. First of all, we had made winter decorations for A101 and I really like mine. It is a scene of snowman surrounding a present and it is amazing. But it is very fragile. Then, this was my first week working box and I was so nervous. I was told the different things I had to do and then I was strapped in. It went pretty good and I don’t think I made any mistakes which will make me fell better next time I work box. Next, I have a fun story about friendship. This was on Friday and my friend had to go to the bathroom. I was waiting for him and all of a sudden, the bus started coming on the campus. I called my friend but he didn’t pick up and from across the campus I saw him enter the bathroom. So I started sprinting to the bathroom to get to him immediately. But 2 unfortunate things would happen. First, my IDs all fell onto the grou...

Weekly Blog #15: Bowling For Rain

Image
Hello ‘Ilima     This week has ISA bowling and what a time it was. It was on Friday and most of leadership participated in it. It took a long time for the bus to come but when we got on, another school was also on the bus. I was hating it already and then everyone started to sing. Now I did sing along but still. The bus ride there was fine with not a lot actually happening. When we got there, we went to our place and we got the game plan. I was going to bowl with the other girls in my period and we were playing on lane 18. There was going to be 3 games in total and the highest score for each category wins. I was so confident going in but everything was going horribly. I couldn’t hit the pins because the ball was going to the right side when I didn’t want it to and would go off. I was getting so mad and the problem was only discovered 2 1/2 games in. So my bowling experience wasn’t the best but the whole team did really good. This week was also very rainy. After school ac...

Weekly Blog #14: Thanksgiving

Image
Happy Thanksgiving ‘Ilima      This week has been short due to Thanksgiving but it was still good. Because of Thanksgiving, we had the Turkey Trot. For the Turkey Trot, we needed costumes and I went all out for my pilgrim costume. It was sad that my hat couldn’t even fit my head but the costume was still really good. But not a lot of people commented on my costume which was kind of lame. Standing out there was kind of boring as the only other people were very far away. Besides this, it was good and I got to see a lot of people I knew. In math, we were basically learning addition which we made many jokes on. It was teaching us how to add integers with different signs but it’s very easy and we joked that we were back in preschool. Now we can’t talk about this week without mentioning Thanksgiving. My Thanksgiving was different this year as it was a lot less people. But with less people let us be more experimental. We tried out a recipe for candy yams and it was really ...

Weekly Blog #13: WhataWeek

Hello ‘Ilima      This week has been so long with so many things happening. First of all, I was on TV this week and I had to think of a new intro. I decided to do puppets because I saw my puppet and thought it would be funny. I think this has been my best TV so far and I happy that I am progressing. There was also recognition night this week which was cool. I had a good time because I got to see a lot of my friends walk up stage and I got to lose my voice screaming for them. The actual work was good and I just worked like I would usually. On Monday, Leyla brought a cotton candy machine to class and they made cotton candy that was just pure sugar. It was pretty silly but it just had to be on my desk. Speaking of my desk, it’s one of the messiest because I share it with Mark and he has a lot of things. But it doesn’t really matter because it eventually gets cleared. The GT also experienced after school sales for the first time and I think they did really good. We als...

Weekly Blog #12: The Blurring

Image
Hello ‘Ilima      This week has gone by so quickly. I literally forgot so many things that happened and I have just been going through the weekend so slowly. It has felt like years but what I did was a lot. First of all, corn hole finished up and it was good. I don’t understand why the others hate inter murals so much because I like watching the other students play the games. The highest score I was was a 16 and it was impressive because the home room didn’t have a lot of students. Because this week was short, our magic notes were due earlier. It was kind of stressful but I got it done. The hard part was helping the GT. Since they didn’t know a lot of people, it was harder for them to do their magic notes and Dylan waited so long to do his. But a really good thing about him is how fast he can work. To give context, binder checks happened the week and we needed two advisory math pages. But we couldn’t grab the paper until Dylan turned his magic notes in. We were all ...

Weekly Blog #11: A Masquerade's Corn Hole

Image
Hello 'Ilima      What a wild week it has been. The biggest thing to happen was Halloween. I was dressed up as Guts from Berserk and the whole day was fun. Most of Leadership dressed up for Halloween and it was very silly. Then after the day, I went Trick or Treating with my friends. One of my friends couldn't come which was sad but we still had so much fun. We went around the neighborhood and we got a whole bunch of candy. There was even a haunted house which was cool. This was defiantly my best Halloween and I can't wait for more in the future. Tomorrow (or today depending what time this is posted) will be another day with friends as I am going to watch the FNAF movie. We have been waiting for this movie and I'm so excited to go. In school, we had a new intermural start this week which is Corn Hole. You know what corn hole is and it has been so far pretty good. The players are currently in the practice stage and we are just here to give the bags to the players. Fo...

Weekly Blog #10: New Challengers Arrived

Image
Hello ‘Ilima      The second week of the 2nd quarter has gone by and the Leadership family has grown. Three GTs are now apart of our group and we spent our time helping them adjust. All three of them were put into my period which the others didn’t like but I didn’t mind. I knew all 3 of them because I was in the same Enrichment class as them. I was paired with Jacob which was the one I knew the most and he quickly learned how to do things. But the biggest challenge came when they had to design things on Canva. It was very simple and by definition they did a good job, but the mental toll was insane. My nightmares will be filled with Among Us and Sans with red smiles as by every second I felt my brain melt. My brain had at least had a good enough barrier in which I could withstand the pain but the others were folding. Reese and Alex were literally crying in the floor and Riselle had just given up on life. I still kept hope and they did eventually get it all done. I st...

Weekly Blog #9: Return to School

Image
Welcome ‘Ilima      The 2nd quarter has started and we are already rolling. This week had one less day but we still did a lot. Drama has been the same ever since we started with us just playing games. I didn’t expect it to start so soon but it’s been good. One thing I have been really annoyed about is the bus pass. I had tried to get a new bus pass but I was handed a paper. I asked for a hard copy on a different day and they said that it hadn’t printed yet. Having to be stuck with the paper temporary pass is annoying because I have to open my bag to get the pass and then close it which takes a while because my bag is heavy. We also had a math test in the first week which is not cool. The math test was about the last unit we learned and I think I did well. We also switched the seating in math so that we are now in groups and not in columns. I worked music for this week and the schedule kept on changing because of other events that happened. Because of this, I worked ...

Retreat Blog

Image
Hello 'Ilima       Leadership has just concluded their 3 day retreat and it was a wild time. We arrived on Wednesday and immediately we had lot's of things to do. To cover the work, it was mainly planning for the future which would help us get a timeline for the rest of the year. Doing the planning was good as it allowed us to have a good understanding of the year. There were also breakout sessions which were nice. The three breakout sessions were about goals, core values, and nice words. We had one session and Mr. Ing had asked us questions in the form of statements about different things. Two categories, list the last 5 Heisman winners and list the last 5 NBA MVPS, were ones that I were very confident and did really good at. The only mistake was Heisman winner as I forgot that DeVonta Smith won a Heisman. I guess the others mistakes would be over guessing as for the NBA one, I thought it meant the last 5 players to win and not the last 5 winners. Moving on, all of ...

Quarter Blog #1

Image
Hello ‘Ilima       The end of the quarter is just a couple days away and it has been a long 2 months. Many events, projects, and silliness has happened and it’s all being retold here. Every event (from memory) was picture taking, open house, flag football, and Family Nite. Out of those events, my favorite was Family Nite because it was fun working the booth and not tiring. Open House was mainly outside for us so it got annoying, flag football was constantly being outside for 2 weeks which was terrible, and picture taking was just kind of boring. But I still like all of the events we did. Then there are the classes. To rank my classes it would be; 1. Leadership 2. Social Studies 3. Science 4. ELA 5. Math 6. AVID. Most of the classes deserve to be a bit higher as they are actually interesting and cool. But AVID is an outlier. AVID is so boring and so far we only have learned basic organization skills like having a binder, how to meditate, and SUTW which we alread...
